So I'm not a fashionista by any stretch of the imagination, but I am obsessed with Rachel Zoe. If I won a contest, I would want the Grand Prize to be at least $50,000 to spend on a shopping spree with Rachel as my stylist. She is amazing! I love to be comfortable, but I'll sacrifice comfort for a really great vintage piece. Whether its clothes, jewelry, furniture or art, I love vintage. Its empowering to think that the piece has a history, and wasn't mass produced in China. I love the craftsmanship and design of a well-made piece that stands the test of time. And if I can get something I love for just a few dollars - even better!
Vintage clothes are especially appealing to me since they celebrate real women. They hide tummy problems and child bearing hips, while showing off my legs (one of the few parts of my body that I don't wince at while looking in the mirror). The women of yesterday had class, grace, style, and pride in their appearance. You never saw bra straps, whale tails, or muffin tops. My personal style icons include Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy. Now those were trophy wives!
